    An Abstract Exploration



    Show Description

    A celebration of the departure from accurate representation and the freedom of abstract expression through 2- and 3-dimensional mediums. Themes of line, color, texture, and geometric abstraction are explored.

    Featured Artist and Juror: Pat Kennedy Corlin

    Pat Kennedy Corlin is a photographer who lives in Strafford, NH. Providing a wide range of private and commercial services, Pat can be found working in studio at The Performing Images Photo Loft in Strafford and the Seacoast Photography Studios in the beautiful Newmarket Mills of New Hampshire. She will tell you that she feels complete when her work has a positive and lasting effect on others. An avid nature, portrait, travel and freelance photographer, she is never happier than when traveling the globe, photographing people and locations such as Cambodia, Africa, Hawaii, Canada, Europe, Caribbean Islands and hiking or skiing the mountains of northern New England, the Rockies and the Austrian Alps with her photo gear on her back and at the ready!

     One Day Dustan Knight Watercolor Workshop 

    Saturday, April 19 from 10 to 3 pm

    BIG LOOSE and EASY , Five Hours All Levels of artists are invited to join Dustan Knight at her most popular watercolor workshop   Just in time for Spring learn how to paint big glorious flowers full of color and vitality.

    Dustan demonstrates step by step as you paint along with her and the results are individual and expressive. Touching on composition and color as well as watercolor techniques like wet in wet painting and glazing, this workshop is designed to bring out the creative artist in us all.

    A one day workshop for all skill levels. Bring a bag lunch.

    Opening Reception: Friday, May 2, 4 - 6 pm

    Show Fees:  YAA Member $10 (non-refundable)

    Drop Off Dates:  Sunday & Monday, April 27-28, 4 - 6 pm

    Pick Up Dates:  Sunday & Monday, June 1-2, 4 - 6 pm

    Show Description: Art submitted for this show should portray the themes of change and renewal associated with spring: transition from cold to warmth,  movement from adversity to abundance, celebration of newly emergent life and growth. 

    • Open to YAA members.
    • Entry fees are non-refundable.
    • Judge:  Kenny Gilbride, YAA’s President. Kenny is a photographer with the ability to capture both the grandeur of urban architecture and the story telling of street photography. He shows not necessarily what city life looks like but what living in the city feels like.  His landscape photography and macro photography have no overriding theme - it simply aims to produce images that are enjoyable to view.
    • All media accepted
    • Artists may submit up to 3 original pieces. Guaranteed entry of at least one piece.
    • All works must be for sale and YAA receives a 30% commission on all sales.
    • Work must conform to YAA Hanging Guidelines.  Click here.
    • Volunteers and show participants are needed to gallery sit on Thursdays and Fridays.  This can be done on Sign up Genius or at the time of intake.
    • Artists submit artwork at their own risk.  YAA is not able to accept responsibility for loss or damage.

    Getting More Out of Your Digital Camera

    Beginner/Intermediate level class focuses on learning how to use the basic and some of the slightly more advanced settings in your camera to improve your results.

    3 week session, Wednesday evenings 6-8 pm,  June 4, 11, 18

    Instructor - Scott Gasperin     Cost $55.00 YAA Members $50.00

       Growing up in northern Michigan, much like northern New England, one readily gains a rich appreciation for the natural world. Scott's images have been published in travel guides and magazines, and have been on display in many local galleries including River Tree Center for the Arts and the York Art Association. Scott teaches a variety of photography classes in local community adult education programs, conducts workshops, and works freelance and on assignment.

    EXHIBITION POLICIES:
    All exhibited work must be the original work and design of the artist. No imports, dealers, commercial art or objects made from commercial kits are allowed. Artist reproductions/prints must be signed and numbered by the artist in limited editions and must be labeled as such. THE SHOW WILL BE HELD, RAIN OR SHINE.

    Past Exhibitors: A non-refundable $100 fee must be enclosed with your application and postmarked by August 18, 2014.

    New Exhibitors: There is a $15 non-refundable jury fee for all new artists. All new artists must submit a minimum of 3 maximum of 7 images of recent work. A current bio and résumé of relevant experiences, include website address if you have one, along with jury fee. Images can be photos or jpg images provided on disc. Each image must include artist name, medium, size and title (if applicable) of piece. Please provide a #10 self-addressed stamped envelope if you wish to have photos returned. Acceptance or rejection notice will be mailed out within 4 week of receipt. All exhibited work must be the original work and design of the artist.
