The American Spirit
An all Media, Member Only Show
June 4 - June 28
Thursday through Sunday, 12 to 5 pm
Images for this exhibition will show how artists evoke the American Spirit. Some use patriotism, some use nostalgia and some use courage. Others will be inspired by some other aspect of what makes our country what it is.
This exhibit will be connected with an exhibit, sponsored by us at the same time in the Kennebunk Room in the York Public Library, of a collection of photographs taken by a young American soldier, Galen E. Leavitt, during the Korean Conflict.
The exhibit is a collection of black and white and color photographs of people, planes, landscapes, and humanity from 60 year-old restored color slides and black and white prints taken while Galen was in the U.S.A.F., stationed in Japan and flying missions into South Korea from 1951-1953. Galen's work affirms the spirt of adventure and inquisitiveness about another culture.
We also will feature panels from the YAA Fiber Arts Group that celebrate the Town of York in this show.
